Canada Day is coming up on July 1. It serves as an opportunity to reflect on our incredibly beautiful and diverse country while recognizing our colonial past and the Indigenous peoples who were the first inhabitants of this land. We have some exciting Canada Day celebrations happening in Beaches – East York. I will see you at the East York Canada Day Festival and Parade!

East York Canada Day Festival

Get ready for a full day of live music, craft beer, wine and cider, food, vendors, midway rides, fireworks and fun, as the East York Canada Day Festival announces the 2023 lineup for one of Toronto’s oldest and most beloved Canada Day celebrations on Saturday, July 1st at Stan Wadlow Park.

The East York Canada Day Festival is celebrating its 66th edition with a big lineup of family-friendly fun in the afternoon and block-shaking rock & roll and non-stop dancing in the evening!

Canada Day in East Toronto will kick-off at 10:30 a.m. with our annual Community Parade through the streets of East York. More than 25 groups from across the community and the city will march, walk, cycle and ride in this annual local tradition. The parade will travel from Dieppe Park (455 Cosburn Ave) east along Cosburn, north on Woodbine Ave ending at Trenton Avenue.

Following the Parade, the East York Canada Day Festival’s official Opening Ceremonies will take place at the Main Stage of Stan Wadlow Park (373 Cedarvale Ave.) at 12 noon.

Ashbridges Bay fireworks

In the Beach on July 1, there will be the City of Toronto’s fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay, foot of Coxwell Avenue at Lake Ontario, starting at 10 p.m. sharp. The Ashbridges Bay fireworks display will last 14 minutes.

Large crowds are expected to attend the display, which can be viewed from anywhere along the Boardwalk. Toronto police are reminding those planning on attending that the use of fireworks on public properties including beaches, parks, parkettes, and sports fields is illegal.

Due to the large crowds and localized road closures, police are urging people to find alternate methods other than driving to get to the Beach on the night of July 1.

The following TTC bus routes serve Woodbine Beach Park and Ashbridges Bay Park: 22A Coxwell and 92A Woodbine. The TTC plans on adding extra buses to those routes on July 1.
